In the town of Constanta, Romania, there is a desperately crowded facility holding an amount of dogs that is far beyond its capacity.
This “shelter” for dogs is a miserable place where dogs often fight, go hungry, and their wounds go untreated. This is where Angus began his life.
Can i buy viagra over the counter in india
The small white Westie dog was lumped into a group of 150 other dogs that were going to be put down over a period of three days. The mass euthanasia was meant to free up space in the overrun shelter, and this seemed to be the most humane way to do it.

Anne-Marie Dimi Marcu, a vocal animal activist and rescuer in Romania, disagreed. She convinced the town’s mayor to allow her some time to find homes for the desperate animals. Marcu went above and beyond for these animals, and her dedication paid off.
Angus was one of the lucky dogs that was saved from the hellish shelter that day, but this was just the beginning of a very long adventure for the little pup.
Scroll down to find out what happened to Angus, and let us know what you think of his incredible journey in the comments!

Angus, a small Westie pup, began his life in an overcrowded shelter in Romania.
There, he was attacked by other dogs. His fur was matted and blue from the antiseptic that wasput on his wounds.
Incredibly, Angus was saved by Anne-Marie Dimi Marcu, a local animal activist. She worked tirelessly to ensure as many dogs as possible could be saved from the shelter.
Angus, along with 15 other adult dogs and 11 puppies, wasrescued.
Marcu along with Madalina Cristea, another rescuer, were able to get in touch with Carol Richies, the founder of Westies Rescued UK.
Through this group, they hoped they could connect Angus with a family that would show him the love and compassion he deserved.
Angus was then put into a little crate and sent hundreds of miles away from his horrid beginnings to a hopeful new start in Scotland.
Amanda Hill had seen Angus’ rough beginnings online and agreed to open up her home to him.
“He felt amazing to hold,” Hill told the Dodo.
“He was so soft and gentle, considering the life he must have had.”
The struggle wasn’t quite over yet for the little Westie dog.
While living in the shelter in Romania, Angus developed an infection in his eye. The vet warned Hill that an unstable ulcer in his eye may rupture.
“I went to give Angus my usual good morning kiss and cuddle,” Hill explained.
“He was unusually quiet. When I felt his face, it was wet down one side. I realized the ulcer had burst.”
Angus had emergency surgery to remove his eye.
Despite this new struggle, however, the resilient dog pulled through.
Angus has certainly been through a lot in the past few years, but he’s in loving hands now, and he’ll spend the rest of the life in the care of his forever family.

Nigrita is an 80-year-old Galapagos tortoise that lives at the Zoo Zrichin Switzerland. She also happens to be making a big difference for her endangered species.
Nigrita laid her first eggs this year. Most species don’t live to be 80 years old, let alone give birth at that age, but for her species, it’s quite normal!
In fact, these tortoises typically don’t start reproducing until around age 40. Galapagos tortoises are known as one of the longest-living animals on Earth. By tortoise standards, Nigrita is in her prime.
Although Galapagos tortoises can live to be over 150 years old, there aren’t many left. The species isendangered due to greedy humans and hungry predators.
Nigrita is currently part of a breeding program at the zoo, which makes her nine hatchlings all the more special. It’s up to tortoises like Nigrita to ensure the survival of her species.

Nigrita is a very large, 80-year-old Galapagos tortoise that lives at the Zoo Zrichin Switzerland.
She is also a brand-new mom.
Although 80 might seem old to start a family, for this type of tortoise, it’s completely normal.
In fact, Galapagos tortoises can live to be well over 100 years old!
Although giving birth at this age is not uncommon, the fact that Nigrita was able to have nine healthy hatchlings is something of a miracle.
Whyare these little tortoises so special?
The Galapagos tortoise is on the endangered species list.
Nigrita is currently in a breeding program at the Zoo Zrichin order to help her species move away from the brink of extinction!
Why do humans feel responsible for helping the Galapagos tortoise get off the endangered species list?
Well, that’s because humans may very well be the reason they’re on it in the first place!
Humans first traveling to the Galapagos Islands realized that turtle meat was perfect for long boat rides.
People also brought animals with them that quickly grew accustomed to the taste of tortoise eggs.
The incredible work being done at the Zoo Zrichis a big step on the path to helping with the Galapagos tortoise’s population problem.
We wish Nigrita and her nine babies the best of luck!

Chase was 5 months old when he was surrendered by his neglectful owner to the Washington Humane Society.
The poor pup and his two siblings were in terrible shape. Their conditions were so poor that their former owner has since been charged with three counts of animal cruelty.

The first few months of Chase’s life were very difficult.
He and his two siblings were severely neglected their entire lives untilthey were surrendered to animal control officers at the Washington Humane Society.
Chase was in very poor health.
He had several serious conditions, including mange, that led his rescuers at the DCVR to believe he may not make it.
The poor animal was in desperate need of a hero.
Enter Camden, the much-needed hero in this story.
This incredible dog and his compassionate owners made a very important trip out to the DCVR after hearing about Chase’s story.
“Camden is one of DCVRs blood donors. We maintain a list of young, healthy dogs whose amazing owners are willing to drop everything and bring them to our clinic, any time of day or night, to help save a life,” Chase’s caretakers explained on the DCVR Facebook page.
Incredibly, the blood transfusion worked!
Thanks to Camden’s generous donation, Chase’s caretakers saw immediate improvement.
“After the transfusion,Chase became brighter, stronger, his blood sugar levels began to stabilize, and he began to better regulate his body temperature,” theyexplained.
For over a week, the caring staff at the DCVR continued to treat and monitor Chase closely.
After treatment, the staff felt he was ready to live in a medical foster home.
His medical foster mom is able to dedicate the time and care he needs in such a fragile state.
Today, Chase is learning the meaning of love and compassion in his new foster home.

Every day, firefighters risk their lives for theprotection of others. In order to ensure each firefighter is prepared to face any situation, intense training and fire simulations are utilized.
Nothing prepares firefighters for the real thing quite likea training facility that can actually be set on fire. This way, firefighters can enter a controlled environment and apply the skills they’ve learned.
Typically, these training sessions are pretty standard, however, one particular training session would prove to be very out of the ordinary for the firefighters with the Annandale Hose Company.
The training began as itoften does. The house was set on fire and began to fill up with billowing black smoke. Temperatures inside these buildings can often exceed 1,100 F.
The firefighters entered the burning building and began their first rotation. That’s when they came across something incredibly shocking.
A box of tiny, helpless kittens lay in the basement of this hellish environment. The firefighters rushed to action.
Scroll through below for a look at this miraculous rescue, and let us know what you think in the comments!
[H/T: The Dodo]
Firefighters from the Annandale Hose Company in New Jersey came in for work on a Monday, ready for their training exercise at the Hunterdon County Emergency Service Training Center in Clinton Township, NJ.
Although firefighters are always ready for the unexpected, this was supposed to be a typical training course.
The training center simulates basement and second-floor fires, providing firefighters with the opportunity to train in a controlled environment.
After conducting their first rotation, however, they came across several little surprises.
“We got a surprise when seven very fragile, and very scared, kittens were located and rescued inside the burning building,” the firefighting company explained on their Facebook page.
The terrified kittens were lucky to have been found when they were!
The kittens were immediately rushed out to a waiting ambulance.
There, they received some much-needed oxygen and a lot of TLC.
The firefighters returned to the building to see if they could find the kittens’ mother, but she was nowhere in sight.
The Township of Clinton Division of Fire’s Facebook page states that they have returned to the training facility each day since finding the kittens, but so far there is no sign of her.
All seven of the adorable kittens have recovered and are receiving care from a local pet rescue.
Despite beginning their lives in possibly the worst temporary housing imaginable, these kittens are now safe and sound thanks to some heroic firefighters.
